Chapter 552 of the Texas Government Code provides the authority under which a member of the public may access government records without question as to the use of the information. However, certain information is protected from disclosure under the exceptions in the Act, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and other constitutional, statutory or judicial decisions.
